The Region

With more than 26,000 ha of vineyards, Rheinhessen is the largest wine-growing region in Germany. Also known as the “land of a thousand hills” it is situated in a triangle between Bingen, Mainz, and Worms and bordered by the Rhine to the east and the north. About 68% of the area is planted with white wines, of which Riesling is the second most important variety. Formerly Rheinhessen was the synonym for more simple, sweeter styled wines. Today, this region is one of the most fibrant area in Germany for upcoming young winemakers with inspiration and a drive to highest Quality.

The Wine

This wine originates from the southern portion of the region, the “Wonnegau”. In former times it was a common practice to plant several varieties side by side, such as Gewürztraminer in between Riesling. They were harvested and pressed together, whereby Gewürztraminer naturally buffers the Riesling higher acidity. Today, the wines are planted separately, picked, pressed, and fermented individually, prior to the final “marriage” or “Cuvée” is done.

This unique dry white wine combines the crisp freshness of the Riesling with the spicy aromas of the Gewürztraminer.

• Nose: clear-cut aromas of citrus and exotic fruits, hay
• Taste: crisp, harmonious, medium-bodied wine with elegance and complexity, exotic fruit notes and a hint of spice
  Serving suggestions: delicious solo, Pasta in cream sauce, appetizers and finger food (incl. Sushi), all kinds of fish.
